I have been a huge slacker in the photography department lately. I think it must be the winter that is causing my lack of motivation. Hopefully soon I will get that camera into my hands again!
On another note I have been doing some research on skin softening because I am looking for a more natural effect then what I've been using in the past (surface blur at a low opacity).
Because I get a lot of questions on how to get certain effects I decided that in addition to posting photos, I am going to post tips and tricks that I use to enhance my images. You can keep emailing me your questions or feel free to post them in the comment section and I'll try to answer you ASAP.
A common skin problem is light spots. You'll get these generally if you use a flash or sometimes because oily skin or strong lighting. To correct this you use your clone stamp tool. You will change the blend mode to darken and set your opacity to about 40-50% I usually prefer to use a soft brush to help with blending. You just alt- click on a good area of the skin near the light spot and brush over it.
For dark spots under the eyes or wrinkles you can use the same method just change the blending mode to lighten. You just keep brushing over the area until it looks how you want it too.
My friend Serena gave me told me about CoffeeShop a great website that gives you free actions and tutorials. I haven't really been a huge fan of actions lately but the powder room set is so awesome. Here's a before and after to show you the magic:

Wow, that is amazing. I probably ought to spend some time learning those tricks.
When we got our prints back from Steve's extended family pictures, the first thing Derrick said was, "Man, I wish I really looked like that!"
Will you please pick up your camera for my little Jaden around the 14th of March? I want to get his 1 year pictures. And I want YOU to do them. :)
Adrienne,
Of course I will! Email me and we can set up a session. But I won't be able to do it until I think after the 16th my husand and I will be in Mexico! Woo hoo!
Hey! You have been doing some great work!
So, we are all here at work looking at the before and after Lyndie. We definitely like the after. BTW, Lyndie is pissed!
I love this action too. I am so glad you like that website. I try to check it frequently since they are always adding new stuff.
On a different note... the camera body I ordered is a Nikon D80. Not the D700 like I wanted but it will have to do for now. :) I just bought a new 50mm lens that I am so excited to try out. I will let you know how it goes. That is if the camera ever gets here. AHHH!
wow..that is amazing!!
Am I just missing something here? :) What program are you using to do this? :)
mmm...going to have to look into this one! :)
